About 10 minutes ago I upgraded FullyHalfEmpty.net to WordPress v2.5. It went completely uneventfully. I have to say, for a FREE blog platform, WordPress is pretty fabulous! Based on a cursory review of the changes, it looks like most are on the admin panel (which users and readers don’t really see). The improvements are significant. The new Admin panel layout is terrific, way better looking than before and far better organized.

With only just over 12 hours until I go under the knife, I am experiencing a whirlwind of emotions: resolution, apprehension, fear, doubt, excitement, anxiety, hope…
Last night I barely slept…my eyes were just wide open all night. Early in the morning I finally feel asleep out of sheer exhaustion…and then I had to get up to go pee. One of the wonderful side effects of a liquid only diet…you drink ALOT of water, ergo, you pee alot.
I’ve not posted much the last couple days…I have been very pre-occupied, and perhaps subconsciously trying not to think about all of this. I’ve stuck to my liquid only diet this week to the tee…that’s quite an accomplishment, if I do say so myself!
I don’t know when I will post again…perhaps later tonight or tomorrow, but after that I expect I will be out of commission for a few days.
See you on the flip side!

This morning when I stepped on the scale I was 379.0 lbs…I’ve lost another 6 and a half pounds.
This has been a rough week. I’ve never been so acutely aware of all of the food commercials we are inundated with…on TV, on the radio, on billboards…even on the internet! It’s like torture! However, I am proud to say that I have not had anything to eat since Monday. I’ve been sticking to the plan, just having water, my protein supplements, my vitamin supplements and the occasional light cranberry juice mixed with water. On Thursday I had some beef broth for lunch and chicken broth for dinner. It was such an incredible treat, but the next morning I had the worst diarrhea. I’m not sure if it was worth it…
Anyway, just about 48 hours until my surgery and I am feeling pretty good. I will be off work for the next two weeks, and despite the circumstances, I am pretty happy about that.

This morning I woke up at about 3am. I tossed and turned for over an hour and I simply could not fall back asleep. I decided to get up and work.

Today I did 1.3 miles on the elliptical in 00:10:06. I think my lungs and heart could have taken a little more but my thighs were on fire and my back is still bothering me.

I have to say this morning I feel pretty good. I did wake up feeling very hungry, but now that I am drinking my “protein water” I am feeling satisfied. I already feel like I’m losing weight…and it feels great. My pants were just a little less tight than usual. My back is sore this morning, likely from yesterdays whopping 10 minutes on the elliptical, but I know this is only temperory and will go away the more I exercise and lose weight.
I am so motived. My resolve is steely. I am so encouraged by the way I am feeling after only 2 days on the diet…

I didn’t walk today. Although the psychological goal of walking around the block without having any pain is very much real for me, yesterdays walk taught me that if I want to get some aerobic, muscle tearing, calorie burning exercise, I need to come up with a different plan. With that in mind, I have decided to replace the daily 10 minute walks that I planned for myself this week with 10 minutes on the elliptical.
Today I did 1.2 miles in 10 minutes. I rose my heart rate, broke a sweat and can feel it in my legs that I worked some muscles. Without question a far superior workout than the one I had yesterday walking.

Today I got a brand new scale. My wife Delia bought it for me. We have a bathroom scale, but it has a 330 lb. limit and I am way above that. How much you ask? I present you with my first official Weigh In:
2nd Day of pre-bariatric bypass surgery liquid diet
392.6 lbs.
